Why do magnets have magnetism?
Add Time: 2023/3/1 20:18:42 From: Hits: 2223

Matter is mostly composed of molecules, molecules are composed of atoms, and atoms are composed of atomic nuclei and electrons. Inside the atom, the electron rotates continuously and revolves around the nucleus. These two motions of the electron will produce magnetism. However, in most materials, the directions of electron motion are different and disorderly, and the magnetic effects cancel each other. Therefore, most substances do not show magnetism under normal conditions.

Ferromagnetic substances such as iron, cobalt, nickel or ferrite are different. The internal spin of electrons can be arranged spontaneously in a small range to form a spontaneous magnetization region, which is called magnetic domain. After ferromagnetic materials are magnetized, the internal magnetic domains are arranged in a neat and consistent manner, which strengthens the magnetism and constitutes a magnet. The iron absorption process of the magnet is the magnetization process of the iron block. The magnetized iron block and the different polarity of the magnet produce attraction, and the iron block firmly "sticks" to the magnet.
